An AI interview is a one to one conversation with the AI Moderator, an AI that asks the study's questions, listens to your spoken answers, and asks follow ups to understand more, much like a person would. You take it in your own time, in your browser, using your camera and microphone, and the session is recorded so the research team can review your answers. Many studies screen first, so you may answer a few short questions and continue to the interview if you qualify. This guide covers the whole experience from start to finish.
How you get in
Straight into the study. In some cases you move directly into the interview after qualifying, with no extra step.
By email invitation. In other cases you receive an email inviting you to the interview. Open it and follow the link to begin.
Verifying your identity
You may be asked to verify your identity before taking part. It is quick, and it is worth doing. Participants with a verified ID are more likely to be selected for studies, because it gives researchers confidence that you are who you say you are. Your verification details are used only to confirm your identity, and they are not shared with researchers.
Tips for a smooth interview
Find a quiet spot. Background noise makes it harder for the AI to hear you clearly, so pick somewhere you will not be interrupted.
Take it on your own. Complete the interview by yourself, with no one else in the room or joining in. The study is meant to capture your own answers.
Use a stable connection. A reliable internet connection keeps the session from dropping partway through.
Check your lighting. Face a light source so your camera picture is clear.
Speak naturally. Talk as you would to a person, in full sentences. The more you share, the better the conversation.
Take your time. There are no right or wrong answers, and no rush. Think out loud if it helps.
Getting set up and starting
Read the welcome. A short welcome screen explains who the study is for and what it covers, so you know what to expect before you begin.
Check your camera and microphone. The Microphone and Camera indicators should each show a green tick. Choose the right camera and microphone from the menus, and use Test mic to confirm your microphone is picking up sound.
Review the consent. Starting the interview means you agree to the recording and processing of your answers for research, as described in the Privacy Notice. Open the link if you would like the full detail.
Start the interview. Select Start interview when you are ready, and the AI Moderator will ask your first question.
During the interview
One question at a time. Each question appears in large text on screen. Select Read aloud if you would like it spoken to you.
Record your answer. Select Start recording and answer out loud. While you are recording, a red LIVE badge shows on your video and the button changes to Stop recording. A progress bar at the top shows how far through the interview you are.
Expect follow ups. The AI may ask a follow up to understand more before it moves on. This is normal, and it is where the most useful detail comes from, so share as much as you can.
If something stops working during the session, see Fixing audio, video, or connection problems.
Finishing up
You will see a completion screen confirming your interview was recorded.
You may be asked to rate the experience with a short star rating and optional feedback.
Your responses are submitted for review, and you can then return to your projects.
