We often see new users to the Respondent platform signup for the wrong account type. Below you will find a guide to both types of Respondent account, and which one you should choose based on your needs. Did you signup with the wrong account type? βAccount Types on the Respondent platform:
PARTICIPANT: You are looking to participate in research studies and research projects on the Respondent platform that are hosted and facilitated by someone else. If you are looking to earn money for your participant, thoughts, feedback, and ideas, you want to signup as a Respondent participant. Signing up as a participant does not cost anything, no credit card or payment information is required, and you can start participating very quickly!

RESEARCHER: You are looking to create, host a facilitate research studies and research projects for other people to participate in. You will create projects, recruit and invite qualified participants, and pay participants for their feedback, ideas, and participation. Signing up as a researcher does require a valid and verified credit card and other verified business information.
If you are unsure or confused by which account you should sign up for, odds are, you are going to want to signup as a participant.
Please Help! I created the wrong account type!
The Respondent platform allows for one email address per one account type. If you signup as a participant, the email address you used for that account cannot be using to create a researcher account. If you sign up as a researcher, the email address used to create that account cannot be used for a participant account.
If you created a researcher account in error, we will want to systematically delete and data purge that account and you will need to signup to the platform again once the account deletion is complete.
If you believe that you have created the wrong account type, please chat with our Support Team and provide the following information: email address used to create your account, the full first and last name used to create the account, and please indicate the correct account type that you would like to sign up for.
Account deletions and data purge can take a few business days, so in most cases we will process the deletion and data purge and ask that you wait 5-7 business days before attempting to signup for a new account.
