Which Account Type Do I Need?

When you log in to Respondent, you'll see two options:

Login screen with Researcher and Participant cards

  • Participant β€” Choose this if you want to earn money by participating in user research. You'll apply to studies, answer screener questions, and get paid for your time and feedback. Signing up as a participant is free β€” no credit card required.

  • Researcher β€” Choose this if you want to find research participants for your project. You'll create studies, recruit participants, and pay them for their feedback. Researcher accounts require a verified credit card and business information.

Not sure which one to pick? If you're here to get paid for sharing your opinions, you want Participant.

I Created the Wrong Account Type

Respondent only allows one email address per account type. If you signed up as a researcher but meant to be a participant (or vice versa), the email you used is locked to that account type.

To fix this:

  1. Contact our Support Team and provide the following:

    • The email address used to create your account

    • Your full first and last name

    • The correct account type you'd like to sign up for

  2. Our team will delete the incorrect account and purge the associated data.

  3. Wait 5–7 business days for the deletion to complete.

  4. Sign up again at respondent.io with the correct account type.
