I have participated in a paid interview, but not received my incentive

I participated in a paid interview/study

After you have attended a research session, it is the responsibility of the researcher who conducted the research to mark you as 'attended' and process your payment via the Respondent platform.

You can check on the status of your payment by navigating to the 'my surveys' tab in your project dashboard. This is what the various statuses mean:

  • Invited: You have been invited, but not yet confirmed a time to connect
  • Scheduled: You are scheduled to attend
  • Attended: Your participation has been confirmed
  • Paid: Your payment has been processed, and payment is on its way

Please note, it is the researcher's responsibility, not the Respondent platform, to confirm your attendance and process your incentive payment.

All incentive payments are at the discretion of the Researcher. If a Researcher believes that the information provided on the initial screener and the answers you provide at any time during a scheduled meeting is false, contradictory, or misleading, the interview may be ended early, and no incentive will be paid for the project.

Attendance & Payment

When marked as 'Attended' by the Researcher, Respondents will receive a notification via email that their attendance has been confirmed. Please note, this does not mean your payment is on its way.

Some researchers like to process all their outstanding incentives in a single transaction at the end of the study, others like to pay Respondents as soon as they have attended their session. This is at the discretion of the researcher (and their billing department).

I have not yet been marked as 'Attended', but I did attend

If you participated in a moderated study it is the suggestion of the platform that Respondents send the researcher who conducted your study a note, asking them to mark you as 'attended' and process your payment.

Researcher contact details can be found in your research confirmation email.

**Please note that unmoderated studies are usually performed with a larger group of respondents over varying dates and typically mark attendance and process incentives in batches, you will NOT have access to their contact information.**

A suggested email reads:

I really enjoyed participating in the study {PROJECT NAME} on {RESEARCH DATE & TIME}. I hope the feedback I provided was useful to you and your team!

The reason I am getting in touch is that I have logged in to my Respondent dashboard and noticed that you have not yet processed my incentive payment. The team at Respondent informs me that it is the researcher's responsibility to confirm the Respondent's attendance and process their payment. You can process my payment by following these steps in the researcher dashboard:

Project Name > Project & Respondent Payments > Confirm

If you could please confirm my attendance and process my payment via the project dashboard as soon as possible, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have been marked as 'paid' but not yet received money via PayPal

After being marked as 'paid' by the researcher, it can sometimes take up to 10 days for the incentive money to arrive in your PayPal account. This processing time is the result of PayPal processes, not the Respondent platform.

If it has been longer than 10 days, check your junk mail. You may have received a notification of payment that ended up in your trash. This happens more often if your PayPal account is new.

Please note: If your Payment is scheduled to be received on a holiday or weekend you will be paid within 1-2 business days of that date.
