You can find research participants for just about any kind of research on Respondent! We start with two main Research Methods:

  1. In-Person

  2. Remote

From there, you can then select the research type option that best fits your project.

The Type of Research can be set up in the Project Details:

Remote Research Types

Remote research is any project that is not done in person. This can include video chat, phone calls, or online unmoderated studies.

Types of remote research supported by the Respondent Platform:

Note: Different types of research (or research methodologies) require different incentive amounts. View our incentive best practices here.

  • One-to-One - Also known as an interview. Remote One-to-One research is conducted over video chat, the phone, or other communication methods.

  • Focus Group - Focus groups are multiple participants joining in the conversation at the same time. Remote focus groups are conducted over video chat, phone, or other communication methods.

  • Unmoderated Study - Any project that doesn't involve direct interaction (either in person or remote) is an unmoderated study. Common examples are surveys and UX testing online.

  • Diary Study - A diary study is a study that takes place over a period of time with a participant recording their participation periodically.

  • Other - If your desired type of research isn't listed, you can select the "Other" option.

In-Person Research Types

In-Person Research is any project that involves the researcher and the participant meeting up. This can include in-person interviews, focus groups, and may involve the researcher or the participant traveling a distance to meet up.

  • One-to-One - Also known as an interview. In-person interviews are usually conducted at the researcher's office location but can take place at any location.

  • Focus Group - Focus groups are multiple participants joining in the conversation at the same time. Focus groups are generally held at either the researcher's office or a rented space at a focus group facility.

  • In Respondent's Home - If the research requires working with the participant at home, you can select this option.

  • In Respondent's Office - If the research requires working with the participant at their workplace, you can select this option.

  • Other - If your desired type of research isn't listed, you can select the "Other" option.
