When inviting Respondents to participate in a diary study, Researchers have options depending on the information available to them / the requirements of the third-party platform they are using.

Option 1:

The link to sign up to the diary platform is available/generic across all Respondents

Step 1: Enter the link in the 'How will Respondents participate in your research study' portion of the recruitment brief. Include any additional details needed to get started in this portion of the form as well.

e.g. Please download the Diary Example app – for Apple (http://apple.co/XXX), and for Android (http://bit.ly/XXX). Upon creating a new account, the project code is “BBMA2”. Any questions, email support@example.com

NB: If you don't have this information at the time of launching your study, you can update it by clicking 'edit' on the 'Project Details' pane of your project dashboard.

Step 2: Invite Respondents as normal. View Responses > Invite

Option 2:

Unique links sent via Respondent to a third-party platform

Step 1: Generate or gather the unique links you need to distribute to participants from the third-party platform you are using to conduct the research

Step 2: Invite the participants on the Respondent platform with the message 'Your unique study link will be messaged to you through the Respondent platform'

Step 3: Using the messaging feature, send a unique link to participants through the Respondent platform.

Option 3:

You need the participant's email addresses

In this instance, it is the responsibility of the researcher to distribute unique links / ensure Respondents have the information needed to begin the study.

Step 1: Create a Google Form that collects the Respondent's 1. First Name 2. Last Name 3. Email address. Here is an example of a Google Form.

Step 2: Enter the link to your Google Form in the 'How will Respondents participate in your research study' portion of the recruitment brief. If you don't have this information at the time of launching your study, you can update it by clicking 'edit' on the 'Project Details' pane of your project dashboard

Step 3: Invite Respondents as normal. View Responses > Invite. Collect contact information from your Google form and send unique invites to Respondents

At the completion of the study, please remember to mark Respondents as 'attended' in the Respondent dashboard.

Option 4:

Select the option to ask participants to opt in and share their email addresses. You will have access to their email addresses in the project dashboard for a limited amount of time.
