Why Can't I Edit My Participant Profile?

To keep things fair for the research community, Respondent limits how often you can edit certain profile fields.

After you make changes, the fields you edited will be locked for 7 days before you can update them again. This prevents participants from changing their profile to match specific project criteria, which helps maintain the quality and integrity of the platform.


How It Works

When you edit your profile and click save, you'll see a confirmation modal:

Confirm profile changes. Edited fields will be locked for 7 days to prevent profile updates to match project criteria. Please review before saving.

Once you click Confirm changes, the fields you edited will be locked for 7 days. You'll need to wait until the lock period ends before you can update those fields again.


What Fields Are Affected?

The 7-day lock applies to profile fields such as:

  • Contact details

  • Professional background

  • Profile details


What You Can Still Do During the Lock Period

  • Apply to studies β€” You can still browse and apply for most projects on the platform while your profile fields are locked.

  • Edit other fields β€” Only the specific fields you changed are locked. Other sections of your profile remain editable.

  • Verify your work email β€” Email and phone verification are not affected by the edit lock.

  • Can support unlock my profile fields early? No, the 7-day lock is system-enforced and cannot be overridden manually.

  • I made a mistake in my edit. Can I fix it? Unfortunately, you'll need to wait until the 7-day lock period ends to make corrections. That's why the confirmation modal asks you to review before saving.

  • How do I know when my fields will unlock? You'll know your fields are unlocked when they become editable again. The fields will simply be available to edit as normal.
