Why is my participation incentive lower than expected?

Fulfillment Fee: Participants are paid the advertised incentive amount by the Researcher, less a 5% ($1.00 USD minimum) processing fee.

The 5% fulfillment fee is broken into two components:

  1. PayPal Payment Processing Fee = 2.75%

    • This allows Respondent to process quick incentive payments to you.

  2. Service Fee = 2.25%

    • Allows Respondent to provide respondents with a choice of high-paying research studies, match respondents with appropriate studies using a demographic and occupation algorithm.

    • Allows Respondent to host Participant profiles, like yours!

The deduction of the 5% fulfillment fee ($1.00 USD minimum) is communicated to all participants, on all projects, before beginning the screener survey and is posted in the project dashboard (shown below).

Here are some examples:
- If the cash incentive for the research project pays $20.00 USD, you will receive a $19.00 USD ($1.00 USD, the minimum amount) incentive payment via PayPal.
- If the cash incentive for the research project pays $95.00 USD, you will receive a $90.25 USD (5% of $95.00 USD) incentive payment via PayPal.

- If the cash incentive for the research project pays $300.00 USD, you will receive a $285.00 USD (5% of $300.00 USD) incentive payment via PayPal.

Important Note: The Fulfillment Fee is applied to every project incentive automatically. For tax and reporting purposes, it may be best to factor in the full incentive amount as a safeguard, so you know your actual earnings will come in below based on the Fulfillment Fee. The tax documents generated from PayPal should account for the fee being removed, but please check your PayPal account statements and tax forms for more detailed information.
