Importing your contacts into the RMS is the first step to inviting your contacts to participate in your study. Contacts can be imported as a CSV file.

How to import your contacts.

Importing a CSV of contacts:

  1. Click "Participants" in the left navigation
  2. Click either the "Contacts" tab or the "Imports" tab.
  3. Click "Add Contacts"
  4. Click the "Upload CSV" to upload your CSV contacts file -- You also have the option to add those contacts directly to a list.
  5. Map your file columns to the columns in the RMS.

Importing a single contact:

  1. Click "Participants" in the left navigation
  2. Click either the "Contacts" tab or the "Imports" tab.
  3. Click "Add Contacts"
  4. Click the "Add Single Contact" option
  5. Add contact details -- any custom fields will appear in your list of contacts. In the below example, the custom field is "color".

Mapping your CSV file to the RMS columns

When importing a CSV file, the RMS automatically contains columns that your columns can be automatically mapped to, but you can also add in custom columns

Fields that were mapped with RMS columns will have a green checkbox next to them. Custom Columns that have been successfully added will have a green checkbox next to them. Columns that have yet to be mapped will have a red exclamation mark circle next to them.

File Requirements:

All RMS contacts must include the following column headers:

  • First Name
  • Email Address

The file also must follow a few guidelines:

  • Only a .csv file is accepted
  • CSV files should have a header row with the labels. If they do not have a header row, select the "This CSV file has no headers" option (note: you will be required to map your fields manually which will be difficult, so we recommend headers).

Optional RMS Columns:

The RMS automatically includes some columns that we will map to your contacts if they are available, but they are not required. These include the following columns:

  • Last Name
  • Company
  • Job Title (e.g. Software Engineer, CSM)
  • Title (e.g. Dr, Mr, Ms).
  • City
  • Country
  • Phone

Custom Columns:

If you have a custom column that you'd like to add, you can do so when mapping your columns. To do this, type your column name how you would like it to appear in the RMS when mapping fields.
